Characterizations of Meiotic Stages in Korean Wild Mice(Mus musculus subspecies)

Abstract

|
The characteristics of meiotic stages for cytogenetic study of Korean wild mice(Mus musculus subspecies) were presented. The meiotic chromosomal preparations were made by the modified air-drying technique of Imai et al.
Chromosomal analysis using testis could be observed mitotic as well as meiotic chromosomal behaviors. Chromomeres, sex vesicles and centromeres were remarkably classified in zygotene and pachytene stages of the first division. Autosomes and sex chromosomes dissociation were observed in diplotene stage, and chromosomes could be classified according to the number and the locations of chiasma in diakinesis. These results have a significance as basic data in order to classify the subspecies Korean wild mice and study the meiotic chromosomal analysis.
